What Beltane Is

A modern expression of Gaelic culture in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia's identity is inseparable from its Gaelic roots. From the music of Cape Breton to the lasting influence of Scottish and Irish settlement, the province remains one of the strongest centres of Gaelic culture outside Europe.

Yet without meaningful, modern expressions of that culture, its presence risks fading from everyday life. Beltane is designed to address that directly through hospitality, atmosphere, and a strong sense of place.

Inspired by the ancient Celtic festival marking the arrival of summer, the event brings Nova Scotia, Ireland, and Scotland together through shared traditions told through food, drink, and music.

The Beer and Oyster Room

A reflection of shared maritime identity across the Atlantic with classic beer styles, Nova Scotian oysters and seafood, and coastal music.

The Irish Whiskey and Cheese Room

A warm, social space inspired by the Irish pub with Irish whiskey tastings and cocktails, artisan cheeses both local and Irish inspired, and traditional Gaelic music.

The Highland Scotch and Smoked Food Room

A deeper, more contemplative environment with Scotch whisky tastings, smoked meats, fish and preserved foods, and Highland music traditions.
